These are skinny addressable 1-meter-long 5V RGB LED strips that come packed with a whopping 144 SK6812s. SK6812 LEDs are very similar to WS2812s (or "NeoPixel") and work with the same libraries! As these are bare LED strips that have no protective coating, your project won’t be water proof but there is access to each SK6812 LED and each strip length can be easily modified to fit the length you need. You will be able to control each LED RGB individually, giving you the ability to create cool lighting effects for your car or perhaps under-cabinet lighting in your kitchen!
Note: These come in 1m segments on a reel. They are preterminated with 0.1" spaced 3-pin connectors as well as a 2 wire power connector, as shown in the pictures.
If a board needs code or communicates somehow, you're going to need to know how to program or interface with it. The programming skill is all about communication and code.
Skill Level: Rookie - You will need a better fundamental understand of what code is, and how it works. You will be using beginner-level software and development tools like Arduino. You will be dealing directly with code, but numerous examples and libraries are available. Sensors or shields will communicate with serial or TTL.

If it requires power, you need to know how much, what all the pins do, and how to hook it up. You may need to reference datasheets, schematics, and know the ins and outs of electronics.
Skill Level: Competent - You will be required to reference a datasheet or schematic to know how to use a component. Your knowledge of a datasheet will only require basic features like power requirements, pinouts, or communications type. Also, you may need a power supply that?s greater than 12V or more than 1A worth of current.

Based on 3 ratings:
I use these for lightsaber builds and the are perfect. They seem to work with most lightsaber soundboard manufacturers and nice and thin.
I use these SK6812s for all sorts of projects, from adding accent lighting to rooms to infinity mirrors and wearable projects. Having individually addressable LEDs makes wiring and Arduino programming a breeze.
I also found that you an add waterproofing by coating the strip with a liquid rubber (I actually use Flex Seal of all things and it works great for waterproofing and insulating the electronics)
Skinny strips are much easier to fit into foam diffuser but are harder to solder connections to.
