XBee Pro 50mW Series 2.5 Wire Antenna

Replacement:WRL-10421. This new version is a Series 2 which uses a much newer firmware. It is compatible with the Series 2.5, if you upgrade the firmware through X-CTU. This page is for reference only.

This is the 2.4GHz XBee XBP24-BWIT-004 module from Digi (formally Maxstream). Series 2.5 improves on the power output and data protocol. The Pro series have the same pinout and command set of the basic series with an increase output power of 50mW! These modules take the 802.15.4 stack (the basis for Zigbee) and wrap it into a simple to use serial command set. These modules allow a very reliable and simple communication between microcontrollers, computers, systems, really anything with a serial port! Point to point and multi-point networks are supported.

Note: Series 1 and Series 2.5 XBee modules have the same pin-out. However, Series 1 modules cannot communicate with new Series 2.5 modules.

Just a note on range with these: connecting from one of these transmitting at full power back to another one (50mW using the RP-SMA antenna on the receiving end only) I can get roughly 920 feet of connection with about 50 feet of altitude change through dense hardwood/pine forest on a clear day.

These series 2.5 modules have the ZNet 2.5 Firmware loaded on them. They don't support "plug-in play" simple serial support right out of the box.
