BeagleBuddy Zippy Ethernet Combo Board

Replacement: None. We have retired this product and carry no direct replacement. The Beagleboard xM, however, has many of these features built-in. This page is for reference only.

The Zippy is a expansion board for the BeagleBoard that provides: Ethernet, SD/MMC, battery backed-up RTC, RS-232 serial port, and a 5V I2C interface for the BeagleBoard.

The Zippy board attaches to the BeagleBoard via the expansion connector. The board connects to the back of the BeagleBoard and is the same physical size (3.1 x 3.0").

All drivers for the Zippy are included in the mainline Linux kernel tree as of version 2.6.29

    the zippy2 includes the 0.1" header you need to solder onto your Beagle RevC board. detailed information is available here:<br />

    the zippy2 is electrically compatible with the BeagleXM, however the XM is populated with a female header which means you would need to desolder the female header on either the XM or the zippy2 and replace with a male header.<br />

    tincantools isn't planning a version of the zippy2 for the beagleXM since the XM already has an ethernet interface onboard.

        Apparently, the physical size of the Beagleboard changed between the original and xM variant. However, the spacing between the feet drill holes, as well as the position of the expansion connector did not! However, note that all Beagleboard revisions now come with a 2x14 female expansion header soldered to the underside. So, you should factor this into your design!

    Presumably, the dog house doesn't fit with the combo board installed, correct?
