This is a simple five wire cable. Great for jumping from board to board or just about anything else. There is a 5-pin JST connector on one end, bare cable on the opposite end. It also comes with the mating connector for the JST.
While not ideal, the 4 pin version will barely fit a 0.1" breadboard but the 5 pin version will have problems.
This skill defines how difficult the soldering is on a particular product. It might be a couple simple solder joints, or require special reflow tools.
Skill Level: Noob - Some basic soldering is required, but it is limited to a just a few pins, basic through-hole soldering, and couple (if any) polarized components. A basic soldering iron is all you should need.

It'd be great to have a proper eagle part for this :(
BEWARE.... These don't use the standard .1" spacing. They are smaller.
does it work correctly with sharps dust sensor?
Does anyone know where I can find the eagle footprint for the JST connector? The Sparkfun Libraries don't seem to have it
have a look here : http://www.element14.com/community/thread/26717/l/library-for-jst-ph-connectors?displayFullThread=true
would be great to get these in 10 inch length
Wish I'd remembered this when I ordered the Link Sprite lol.
The datasheet for the JST connector is given above:
http://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Prototyping/ePH.pdf
The JST Connector datasheet does not have dimensions. However, the Datasheet has the part number that you can get proper datasheet from Digikey. The 5pin connector is S5B-PH-KS (Digikey: 455-1722-ND)
Check your PDF viewer, works fine in both my browsers. reload the page, reboot browser?
I am running Ubuntu 10.04.. Seen that before.. I got through digikey.
From the data sheet:
This is a thin, low-profile 2.0mm pitch connector 8.0mm in height after mounting and 4.5mm in width.
The datasheet has errors on my computer so I can't find the series which I think is on page 3 or 4.
I want to echo the first question, but more specifically: JST is not a connector type, it's an entire company that sells many dozens of different types. Please update the description with both the connector pitch and the actual series.
spacing between pins?
