Congrats Nate! I'm excited to see any one of your ideas engineered with the time that they deserve.
Using Sparkfun's most excellent tutorials I've finally gotten the Edison to Hello World. Thank you SF! Not that easy though. Almost all the info out there is for an Arduino breakout, which I'm not using.
Cool projects Conor! I'd love to talk to you more about them on email or back in NYC. I'm using the Mindwave mobile, chosen because it uses Bluetooth (easier for me to talk to).

I have one of these and I love the way it looks.
It is not very usable- very expensive for something with no way to access IO. I hear (since last year!)that they are coming out with a breakout board which will allow IO accessibility.
The serial communications allow only a byte to be passed back and forth between another controller and the display.
Even if the IO ports were accessible, there are not that many (their documentation says both 5 and 8 in two different places). So I had to interface with another MCU to get enough IO points.
So just not that functional.
